Taiwan City Council passed a law to prohibit Viagra from being sold in the city, which was made available to customers in April this year.
A local drugstore in Manchester that was selling Viagra was shut down after police found it had been seized for the same reason.
The drugstore was shut down after police found the pills, which had been found with the codeine, were not authentic and contained no active ingredient, the city’s health service said.
The council’s director of enforcement, the Pharmacist, said Viagra was being sold in the city in the hope that the drug is not the source of any of its fake pills.
“The pharmacist is making the best of the situation,” he said.
The drugstore had been selling Viagra to customers for the previous month.
“It’s not a legitimate drug,” the pharmacist said.
However, officials in the city, who asked not to be identified because they are not authorised to operate in the city, said they were not aware of any cases of the drug being sold in the city.
An investigation by the Manchester City Council said a drugstore in Manchester was operating out of its premises.
It said it was located in the city’s city centre, where the store was located.
The store had no contact with customers who would be visiting the city centre.
The council’s director of enforcement, the Pharmacist, said Viagra had been sold to customers for the previous month.
“I can confirm that customers from Manchester City are not only not aware of the fact that they bought Viagra on the internet, but also are unaware that it’s not from a legitimate supplier.”
The pharmacist said the council was concerned that consumers could access counterfeit Viagra at a local pharmacy.
“We are concerned that this will be a bad thing for the health of the local community.”
In May, a man who was carrying out an investigation into the sale of Viagra and other drugs in the city was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Police had also seized the pills on the spot when they found they contained no active ingredient.
Police officers found the pills in the same container with the codeine as well as the codeine-containing drug.
A pharmacist who was interviewed by Manchester City Council this month said he had bought the tablets for his clients, who are not authorised to sell drugs, in a bid to be able to sell them over-the-counter.
However, he said the tablets contained no active ingredient and contained “substances, such as sildenafil”.
Mr Peter D’Onofrio, head of enforcement for Manchester City Council, said he had no idea if the drugs were in the city’s medicine cabinets or if they were being sold illegally.
“It may be that the drugs are fake or not. I am aware of what my customers say and I am aware that the city has never had the opportunity to investigate,” he said.
Mr Peter said the council was “confident that this was a problem and that this was a public problem”.
“It is a matter of the community’s health,” he added.
Mr D’Onofrio said he was “very concerned” about the incident and would speak to the police.
“I would like to thank the council for putting the drugs to work,” he said.
The city’s health service has asked police for assistance to identify the man.
The police will also continue to search for other people who are suspected of selling fake or dangerous drugs.
